Netanyahu Speaks Directly to People of Iran
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an attempt to bypass the clerical regime in Teheran and speak directly to Iranian citizens on Sunday by posting a video in which he offered to assist them with water technology to relieve the severe drought Iran is currently suffering, which is widely blamed on government mismanagement and corruption. "The people of Iran are good and decent, they shouldn't have to face such a cruel regime alone,” he said. “We are with you, we will help so that millions of Iranians don't have to suffer."

In related news, the ground commander of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) issued a press statement over the weekend declaring that they have been attacked several times in recent days by “antirevolutionary bandits and terrorists in western and northwestern border areas with the aim of deep infiltration" into Iranian territory.

Also over the weekend, Iranian President Hassan Rohani addressed a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), declaring among other things that the Islamic Republic is demanding that the European Union adhere to its demands for economic compensation after the US withdrawl from the JCPOA nuclear deal. He warned, in comments echoed by other Iranian officials over the weekend, that a failure by the EU to agree to Iran’s demands would lead to it re-starting its renegade nuclear program. The Iranian parliament also voted on Sunday to put aside discussion on possibly joining the UN’s Terrorism Financing Convention for two months, pending progress on the EU’s adherence to their demands regarding the JCPOA.
