Netanyahu and Gantz Meet to Discuss Unity Government
Incumbent Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Blue and White leader Benny Gantz met with President Reuven Rivlin on Monday evening and emerged saying they had made progress towards the formation of a national unity government. Their senior aides held consultations throughout the day on Tuesday while the two leaders were scheduled to meet with Rivlin again on Wednesday. “Now, the first challenge is building a channel of direct dialogue out of trust between the two sides,” Rivlin said. “The nation expects you to find a solution and prevent additional elections, even if it means paying a personal or ideological price.”

Much behind the scenes negotiation and discussion is continuing between all the factions which crossed the electoral threshold to enter the 22nd Knesset, according to various reports.

Iranian Position Further Weakened
Iran’s diplomatic position continued to erode on Monday when a joint statement by the governments of the UK, France and Germany supported the US position blaming Iran for a recent cruise missile strike on oil facilities in Saudi Arabia. The statement also urged Iran to enter into new negotiations with world powers on various aspects of its missile programs, support for terrorism and renegade nuclear program.

A senior diplomat from one of Iran’s neighboring countries in the Persian Gulf agreed, telling reporters that "the conversation should no longer be about the JCPOA (nuclear deal) but Iran's missile program and its regional misbehaviour, which are as important if not more important - they have the potential to hold the region to ransom."
